Writesy is a set of browser-based editing tools paired with craft guides, and it is organised around the editing pass. It assumes you already have a draft in front of you, whether that is a report, an email, a dissertation chapter or a chapter of a novel, and it gives you instruments to check that draft against.

Tools and guides, not inspiration

Each tool runs in your browser and does one job: paste a draft into the Sentence Rhythm Analyser and it shows you which sentences are running long against their neighbours; paste the same draft into the Passive Voice and Nominalisation Finder and it flags constructions worth a second look. The guides sit alongside the tools and explain the reasoning: why a passive construction is sometimes the right choice, why a nominalisation buries the actual verb, when a spelling inconsistency is a typo and when it is a sign the draft was written across two sittings in two conventions. Neither the tools nor the guides tell you what to write. They tell you what is on the page, which is a different and narrower job, and one that still leaves the judgement to you.

What Writesy does not cover

Writesy is built for writing that informs: reports, minutes, proposals, essays, articles and fiction.
